Dancehall Danceoff 17, 18, 19, 2010, watercolour on watercolour paper, 25x18cm each
Sarah Doyle’s work uses mixed media and drawing as the main processes these often become the basis for animated films.
Her interests are in popular culture and growing up and her work focuses on the emulation of icons and obsessions, feelings of isolation and trying to fit in. She is very interested in the emulation involved in the search for an identity of one's own and the inherent security of finding an idol to latch onto.
She uses the teenage years in her work as a symbol of feeling fragile, socially inept or awkward. This teenage feeling is always lurking in the background of even the most confident person.
Dancehall Danceoff is a short animated film – the watercolour paintings that were made to create the animation are displayed in Strip.
