Paul Housley shows little regard for pictorial hierarchy or the boundaries of prescribed genres. His intimately scaled images of impotent toy soldiers, petrified animals and plastic dolls’ heads unfold new layers beyond the objects depicted. But, as the artist says, ‘on one level, what you see is what you get.’
Housley's solo shows include Orders from Chaos, Peter Bergman ALP Gallery, Stockholm; Some Have Eyes, Wilkinson Gallery, London; Heavy Easel, Norwich Gallery, Norwich and The Boy is made of Plastic, Reg Vardy Gallery, Sunderland.
